American Fork, Utah
(Settled in 1850)
Takes its name from American Fork Creek, which flows through the town. The stream was named in contrast to Spanish Fork Creek, 30 miles farther south. The town was formerly called Lake City, for its proximity to Utah Lake, and McArthurville, probably for an early settler.
